Why does the changing of the DNS-adresses just not work?
-
Hi there,
so I wanted to lead my new domain litheart.de to litheart.wordpress.com and also let it change the adress at the adressbar. If you just now open http://www.litheart.de it will always lead you back to litheart.wordpress.com showing every user “ah its a wordpress blog.” but it should say litheart.de so i contacted my domain provider topnetworks. they then tried changing the dns adresses as shown at the mapping helpsection – and told me they couldnt bcs wordpress would have to link to litheart.de first before they could change it. that however sounds like an endless circle of problems bcs wordpress says they need to change it first.
i dont see any way to solve this. they told me i should contact wordpress “in case they dont know that it has to link back to the domain first”. so here I am telling you about it.
i dont have any clue about this stuff, i just want my domain to redirect.
HELP!
greetz,
sinaThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have manually added a zone record for your domain.
You should now be able to map it here following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

I’m having same issues,
My wordpress blog is iloveproject.wordpress.com but I want it to change it to projectshops.com, I already bought the domain and changed the nameservers, I tried to add a DNS in wordpress but it wont let me. I don’t know how to fix this, I can not even see my blog online anymore… please I need to fix this today :(HELP!

iloveproject, there are two things going on here:
1. For some reason, the domain mapping upgrade wasn’t added to your account. I manually added it.
2. Two of your nameservers are still pointing to GoDaddy, causing further trouble. Per the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/ they need to point only to:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM -
Thanks, I’m calling godaddy and see if they can do it for me because I’ve been trying and it won’t let me add just the three wordpress DNS…
I’ll keep you updated.Thank you for adding back the domain mapping upgrade, I accidentally deleted it.

I talked to them already and they say I need to have either 2 or 4 nameservers not just three.
is there an extra name server I can add to complete the four or can I just use two of the three you listed before?Thank you for your help.

Ok so now I basically had to buy the domain again from wordpress because my old provider said it wouldnt work any other way. But not it says the domain is in an endless loop that doesnt point to any website. But it should be mapped correctly now since I bought it through the wordpress-system … how do I fix this as quickly as possible?
Thanks

iloveproject, well that’s a load of . . . stuff. :( GoDaddy is actually our registrar partner (by way of Wild West Domains), and to be honest they’re just making things up now. Try just these two:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COMsinahawk, if that were true, we wouldn’t have detailed instructions on mapping existing domains. ;) All you need to do now is set your new domain as primary from Upgrades -> Domains in your blog’s Dashboard.

— Hi macmanx,
I did all the changes according to the wordpress guide, could you please just double check that everything in the back end looks good and that all I need to do is wait for a day or two for the changes to take effect?
Thank you so much for your help! -

Well thanks so I’m just gonna … wait till it works I guess. And on my former provider: Lets see if they also charge me double for telling me they “couldnt redirect because of WordPress” …

Sinahawk,
here is what I did (this might help you, not sure)
I called my domain provider and ask them to help me removing the previous Nameservers that were there for the ones that WordPress provide in the guide:NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMalso I had to make sure my domain is not forwarding to my blog (I had it set up like this before) once all that is done you go to wordpress and (assuming you already bought the $12 upgrade for domain mapping) change your main domain to http://www.litheart.de
and now (just like me) all you need to do is wait…I’ll be updating if all these worked for me tomorrow or in two days.
