Why does the colour on fonts keeps showing up as the old colour?
-
I have custom fonts & colours on my blog, part of the design upgrade. Ever since I changed my font colours months ago the old font colours keep popping up, especially in the sidebar or other pages where the font is meant to be grey/black I end up with bright blue? I feel like I am constantly clearing the cache and cookies to try get rid of it but then its back the next minute. If I paid for custom design its getting a bit frustrating that this keeps happening. I have tried it on Safari and on Firefox it happens on both. Please can someone tell me how to fix this? Thanks.

Hi there,
I just took a look around your site, clicking on as many of the pages as I could find, and on each one the links all showed up as a dark red (except for after I followed them, in which case they showed up as blue).
Is this happening only occasionally? Is there a particular page or set of circumstances wherein it always happens that I can try, so that I can make it happen?
Thanks for the additional information, it’ll help me get to the bottom of things! :)

Hi,
No its not happening occasionally, it is pretty much every time I view the site. If i clear the cache & cookies it can sometimes gets rid of the blue writing when it shows up in the sidebar but then by the end of the day it is back. Plus it is always present on certain pages, for example if I click on the “blogs i love” page it is always in blue when I read it (when it should be the deep red).

Hi there,
I clicked around and I still haven’t been able to replicate anything with the sidebars not keeping the CSS coding, however I did find the page which you were talking about, and I found the reason for that.
It looks like for some reason someone had hardcoded in to those links the color blue. So no matter what changes were made to your CSS, they would always appear the same color.
I’ve gone ahead and removed that hardcoding for you (it’s still saved as a draft if you ever want to bring it back), but it should now show up correctly for you.

Wow! Thanks so much for your help, I’m happy you were able to figure it all out.
For some reason I still see some words in the sidebar in blue, for example where it says “recent posts” the first line below that is always in blue? I really don’t know why, maybe because it’s when I’m using Safari?
Also if I scroll right down to the bottom of the home page where it say’s “meta” “site login” those show in blue for me also.
I had never even heard about hardcoding. Could it be because the theme originally had blue links before I upgraded to custom design?
Thanks again for all the help :)

Hi there,
The Meta >> Site Admin link is actually where you go to log in to the back end of your site. Your site’s Dashboard. That’s going to show blue because you are regularly logging in to your Dashboard.
And the links which are showing blue in your sidebar are almost certainly going to be showing that way because they are pages which you’ve visited. Blue is the color which is programmed to show to signify a page which has already been visited, so any page which your browser reads as already having been viewed, it will then mark as blue instead of red.
Regarding the hardcoding, it is unlikely that the previous theme would have had anything to do with the setting of the color. More likely if you or someone else were trying to specify the color of your links previously by highlighting them and trying to change the color, that could be what did it.
