Why does the 'follow' pop-up not go away with the p2 theme on a tablet

  • Unknown's avatar

With the p2 theme the ‘follow’ option will not go away when you click on the cross to minimise it when using a pad device – in my case a nexus 7. I do not have this problem with the ‘under the influence’ theme – just ‘p2’ on my blog elearninguk.net – aka elearninguk.wordpress.com.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hey John,

Just to clarify, you’re not having this issue on elearninguk.net, which is running the Under the Influence theme. You are having this issue on your blog cltad1.wordpress.com, which is using the p2 theme. Is that correct?

  • Unknown's avatar

No – the cltad1 blog is a *hidden private* blog; elearninguk.net *did* have the p2 theme but i changed it because of the issue i had with it. Just to clarify, the issue with the p2 theme is that with the nexus 7 in landscape the ‘follow’ screen becomes invasive and will not go away when clicking on the X . This is not the case with other themes i have used …

    Hey John!

Thanks for clarifying. I enabled the p2 theme on a test blog, and I’ve been unable to recreate this on an iPad Mini in landscape mode as shown by the screencast here:

Does this happen with any other device or just the Nexus 7?

Hi Jeremey – I do apologise for not coming back to you. I’ve now watched your screencast and see it all works fine on the test blog you setup for an ipad mini. I’ve since switched back to the p2 format for my blog for a while to test but still have the problem with this blog / p2 / nexus 7 (I have not been able to test with an ipad). If you have a chance to have a quick look at elearninguk.net i’d be grateful. Many thanks.

Quick follow-up – now tested with ipad mini / p2 theme / elearninguk.net – there appears to be no problem with these variables; retested using nexus 7 with chrome and firefox – problem persists. will probably switch theme back to ‘under the influence’ for this blog.

Thanks for confirming John! I’m working on reproducing this on a Nexus 7. I’ll let you know if I’m successful.

    Hey John,

I was able to reproduce this on the p2 theme. I’ve passed the issue along to our developers for a fix!

    Excellent; thanks Jeremey.

Hi Jeremey this still hasn’t been fixed – I’ve just checked.

    Thanks
    John

    Hey John,

I’m sorry for the delay! I’ll let you know as soon as we’re able to fix this.

    Hey John,

I’m really sorry for the long delay. I just wanted to circle back on a few items.

First, the Follow widget will only appear in landscape mode on many tablets due to the screen size in portrait mode. This is actually the expected behavior. It’s hidden on smaller screens.

Second, it looks like the minimize/close function on the widget is now functioning as expected due to some recent updates we made. If you’re still having trouble on your site, please let me know!
