Why does the Follow Widget display incorrect number of followers?

  The follow widget on my blog http://www.WanderingButNotLost.com shows that there are 489 people following my blog, yet I just created it and only one person has actually followed it (me while performing a test). Why is the number incorrect and is there a way to reset it?

  To explain, that number is generated from the services you add with Publicize. So, since you have 488 Facebook followers who can potentially see your timeline, we count those as your followers.
