Why does the new editor jumble content?

    Having trouble with the new editor. Everything runs together, no paragraphs, can’t see the colors, etc. The classic editor works just fine. Glad one can revert to it.

    I don’t use it so I don’t go through what you are describing. I use only the classic editor to create posts at Dashboard > Posts > Add New

    I’ll tag this thread so Staff read your feedback.

    @professorjt2012 – When you’re in the new editor, can you confirm you’re using the Visual Editor, not the Text Editor?

    I haven’t been able to recreate the issues you’re describing, but the bit about no paragraphs and not being able to see colors seems to indicate that you’re in the Text Editor, which doesn’t automatically add spacing to the text.

    This happens whenever I try to edit an older post, which defaults to the visual editor. The formatting reappears when I change back to the classic editor — so not all is lost!

    Thanks for clarifying. I am able to see the loss of color in your headings. Is that what you’re referring to? I’m not able to see the loss in spacing. The posts appear to be similar to me. I’ve uploaded a screenshot comparison to your Media Library for you to take a look:

    To clarify, previously everything was coming up as one huge paragraph in the visual editor. Separate paragraphs still showed in the text editor, but I’m an old geezer who needs to “see” it as it gets typed! For me, WYSIWYG is essential, and long posts all in one paragraph made my mind go blank . . . . . I literally didn’t know how to start editing.

    It appears that the jumble bug has been fixed! Thank you. The posts are now coming up okay for me as well, except as you noted, the coloring.

    Despite not seeing the colors, the <span></span> codes still show on the text editor page, however, which is good. At least I can double check to see that I have actually put color in the headings and certain quotes!

    I’m afraid the forum doesn’t accept image attachments. There are two ways to share the images:

    1) Upload them to your Media Library so I can take a look (easiest)

    2) You can share them using a service like Snaggy

    Jeremy,

    I am in the process of revamping the entire blog, and combined several posts yesterday and the day before, while eliminating some other posts that are out of date.

    The contents of that post, October Surprise — November 01, 2012, has been combined with another of a similar topic — I combined it with the Harbingers post (the-harbingers-blog — January 29, 2012). Being lazy, I was trying to simply grab the text of the blog to then paste into the harbingers post to avoid having to reformat colors, etc. After reverting to the classic editor, I was able to do so.

    If this happens again, should I just leave the post for you to check for internal problems? I haven't been keeping track, but it may be the older posts that are having the problem with the new editor.

    If you could, that would be the best plan of attack. That way, I can take a look and try to reproduce the issue on my side.
