Why does the number of comments keep diminishing? Is WP deleting them?

  WordPress seems to be dleting comments (as they age??) – I can’t work out how to stop that.

  When I open the dashboard it shows the number of comments (from various places on the website) – but the number keeps going down.

  Are you referring to the 15 comments listed at https://margaretmerrilees.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php and https://margaretmerrilees.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ ?

  Yes. Last week there were twenty four, then it went down to 16 and now it says 15.
