Why does the sourcecode tag chew up formatted source code?

Yuck. We do hear of occasional issues, but yours seem especially pronounced. While I don’t have any immediate good news, I can report that there is a project under way to rework the editor. We’re currently using TinyMCE, which clearly has a few issues. I don’t have anything like a timeline for improvements, but I can say that we have a team actively working on making a much better experience for the editor. I’m going to flag your issues for that team.

I’m particularly fussy about Getting Things Right and actually take the time to report bugs, so, yeah, I tend to be a squeaky wheel. On the other paw, now you know something’s wrong, which isn’t to be sniffed at. [grin]
Can you add span and br tags (and anything else that crops up) to the list of prohibited HTML that gets stripped out of the incoming text? Perhaps that would be an interim step before you wheel out a whole new editing experience, even if it requires a bit more parsing to extract all the fragments from the injected tags.
Again, thanks for following up on all of this!
