why does the title page keep reverting to the old one after I change it?

  • Unknown's avatar

I custom edited the title page but the new format keeps reverting to before the edit.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We Volunteers do not request access to private sites. Staff can access them so we respect privacy settings and type modlook into the sidebar tags on the thread for a Staff follow-up. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question

  • @drabahowl as staff I can see the site. I can’t quite see what you are describing, though.

Could you take a screenshot of what it’s doing vs what you expected it to do, then upload both at wordpress.com/media? That should help us see what you mean.

All I want to do is to make the font describing the post that appears before the post tiny! Frustrated with the limitations.

  • Unknown's avatar

I don’t know how to make a screenshot. The simple formatting seems to leave out certain choices.

  • Hi @drabahowl,

You can make a screenshot by following the instruction from the support link below:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

You can also share you screenshot with these instructions.

    Cheers!

Thanks. I only have so much energy to pursue this and each roadblock becomes another reason to stop. I’m sure there are solutions. Perhaps they will reveal themselves. A screenshot does not seem worth the time and effort at this juncture. All I really want to do is to change the font size of the automatic header that contains the date of the post. There doesn’t seem to be any way I can see to make that change.

  • We’d like to help you create the idea you’ve envisioned for the site. Adding a screenshot to your media library will help us understand where you are at. If you decide to add the screen shot please come back here and let me know so I can take a better look.

Thank you for all the responses. I suspect the problems are partly because I chose a free site and it gives us fewer options. I do not want to go public with a site that doesn’t look the way i want it to look.

  • You can most certainly customize your free site. I can help if you’ll confirm which site address you are working on. The site can remain private and I’ll be able to view it as staff so that I can assist you. We can also move this conversation to email if you’d prefer.

Yes, lizkarkoski, let’s move the conversation to email. I am still stuck on the way the page looks. Thanks.

  • No problem. Watch for my note to come through shortly.

  • Please let me know if you do not receive my note via email. Once you confirm you have it I will close this forum topic.

I received something via email from someone named Michael, but the information fails to resolve this very simple problem. HELP!

  • Good morning. I’ll reply to your email. Hang tight.

  • Unknown's avatar

Liz – Michael indicates this simple change is not possible.
DISAPPOINTED! I did this because I thought it would be an option, but I am not interested in making it more complicated. Seems too restrictive if this is not possible. I made my own theme and am not interested in your pre-conceived themes. Bummer …

  • Good morning. I am replying to your email now.

I stumbled across this thread while searching for something completely different, but since I’m here –

I wonder if the author is describing a problem that I am experiencing. It’s not really THAT big of a deal, but it it annoying. The problem cannot be captured by a screenshot that easily because it takes a second to correct. Basically, when you go to my site: dailyflabbergast.wordpress.com be sure to look at the top (header image and TITLE) and you will see how first , the text is in one font, but after a second or so it adjusts to another.

The first font that shows was the one I initially used (default maybe?), the second one is the one I modified it to. It’s annoying to see the change every time someone opens my site, and I wish I could get rid of that happening every single time.

I remember seeing this on other people’s blogs a while back. Only theirs was worse (the font size of the entire post would go from tiny unreadable to bigger and readable).

Any way to fix that “update” permanently?

@floatinggold You really should have started a new post rather than tagging on to someone else’s. Everyone above will now be copied in to your question. What you are seeing is normal. If you change from the default font of a theme then there will be a moment where the font changes to the newer one. How long this moment is depends on your internet connection. People on slower connections will see the original font for longer but at least they see something. Otherwise they would see a blank screen for as long as it took the changed font to load.
