Why does the WordPress live support not initiate contact for five days?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Greetings,

I attempted to contact live support, and although they claimed to have received my email, they did not get in touch with me.

  • Hi there,

We are experiencing a support backlog at this time, so it can be the case that agents are not always available to take your chat. Now that we’re talking in this post, how can we help? Can you tell me a bit more about what you are trying to set up? I’ve reviewed your recent contacts and it looks that you were trying to set up some kind of GPS location service on your site? That functionality is not built in to WordPress.com so typically you need a 3rd party plugin to help handle that for you, but we are happy to take a closer look and advise.

    Thanks for the additional info!

    Greetings,

I’m having trouble getting a precise geolocation. The geolocation prompting on my contact page is user-friendly, but the fetching there is unreliable. I’m using the Google Maps API, and my code, which I embedded using HTML on Elementor, is functional enough. No issues were anticipated. All necessary services are also enabled, and my API is not restricted.

  • Hi there,

I just tested the geolocation form, and it was able to accurately find my exact address. Since you mentioned that the fetching is unreliable, it could be possible that the issue is intermittent or might be related to the user’s device or internet connection.

As an alternative, I would suggest trying a dedicated geolocation plugin for WordPress. These plugins are designed specifically for geolocation purposes and might offer better reliability and accuracy. You can find some really good recommendations in this guide: https://www.wpbeginner.com/showcase/best-wordpress-geolocation-plugins/

Please give it a try and let us know if it helps to resolve the issue. If you still face any problems or have any other questions, feel free to reach out. We are here to help.

    Hello,

I would like to implement any free geolocation fetching plugin, the output of which is human-readable, on a specific button in my code. I personally could not find out about the free ones. Additionally, these plugins should be able to work coherently with Elementor.

Please help me find out about these plugins and help me implement them in my code.

Additionally, it has been a very long time since I last had contact with live support; it has been several weeks.

  • Hey here,

Thank you for very much for getting back to us!

free geolocation fetching plugin, the output of which is human-readable, on a specific button in my code.

Ok so from what I can gather the flow would be as follows:

    1. Someone visits your site
    2. Site detects that persons location
    3. Site then places information into a button

Is that correct? If yes, what is that information, and what would that button do when clicked?

If you’re able to provide more context as to what you’re looking to build, this will help us to narrow down what you need.

Speak soon and looking forward to hearing from you!

    Hello,

It is a website similar to “Uber.” There will be a form with searchable select boxes, and the first one will automatically retrieve geolocation data and type it into the first box in a human-readable format. That is what has been requested.

    Please checkout the attachment.

    Best regards.

  • Hey there,

Many thanks for that additional information.

Looking at the screenshot and this form here: https://effortlesstransfer.wpcomstaging.com/contact/ I think it would be good to use a form solution to automate the calculations.

From experience Gravity forms: https://www.gravityforms.com/ with the following add-on, should help provide this.

I’ve done a search on how to calculate price per distance using this combination of plugins, however, I can’t seem to locate this in the documentation.

I’d recommend reaching out to the developers with a pre-sales question here: https://gravitygeolocation.com/support/ to see how you would go about building that using the add-on.

I hope this helps so far!

    Hi @aleone89,

is there any free option? I only want the get location button to fetch the geolocation accurately. The rest is already done by my code.

    Best regards.

  • We don’t offer a free/native geolocation option on WordPress.com, and we are not able to troubleshoot any code you have authored since that requires the help of a professional developer and is not within the scope of our ability to help.

I’m not sure there is a free off-the shelf solution you can use for geolocating in this instance. My guess is that Uber had their developers custom-create the solution you see on their site, so that is a difficult example to follow by using free tools alone. With that said I do see that there are quite a few free plugins that offer geolocation options. It may be worth checking here to see if there are any existing plugins you can use to add this functionality to your site: https://wordpress.com/plugins?s=geolocation

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
