Why does theme switching mess up my newly created blog?
-
Hi,
I am a new user of wordpress.com. I have posted a few questions earlier, but they were slightly different and more unclear in what they were trying to express. So I am now trying to create a really comprehensive post.
As a new user I want to switch between LOTS of different themes, to see how they differ from one another. I want to apply a theme to my blog, see how it looks like, and then apply another theme. I want this switching to work flawlessly, because there are tons of themes to go through.
And here I am facing my biggest problem. It seems to almost never work flawlessly. Even switching once from the original Hever-theme, which comes with my new blog, to another theme keeps a lot of the structure of the Hever. The new theme is distorted by the old Hever theme. How can I get around this? It keeps happening regardless of what themes I pick, the old theme always influences the new, even though I have no wish for it to do so. And I have no clue why, there’s no information.
This has led to that I have to use several “waste” blogs where I experiment. After a few switches between themes, the blog seem to be stuck in a particular look, and I have no clue how to undo that.
It doesn’t make any sense to me that I should spend so much time and energy confused over what is happening, and unable to in an easy way solve my problem. I would love to use this platform, but it does not seem to want me to use it. What am I missing? Is everyone else also having this trouble, and if not, what are you doing differently?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sorry I chose the wrong blog. The correct one is eliasgaze.wordpress.com. Here I switched from Hever to Escutcheon, and Hever elements still dominate the page

A follow-up question: Right now the Escutcheon text alignment is distorted in a hiearchial order to the right. I do want to undo this hiearchy. How can I align text as I please?

Hi @eliashaglund, ah that makes sense.
Escutcheon is a bit older, so switching to it doesn’t work the same way as some of our newer themes do.
Do you want me to reset it so it’s got its default setup for you?
