Why does Twitter timeline no longer appear in the sidebar?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

The Twitter timeline widget used to work beautifully on my WordPress page, but no longer displays the timeline, now just a link ‘Follow me on Twitter’. I’ve checked the settings and they are correct according to the 2016 tutorial (indeed it used to work).

Has something changed? What do I need to do to update the widget so that the Twitter timeline is displayed?

    Many thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi malariainasia,

I’ve checked malariainasia.wordpress.com and tweets are being displayed in the sidebar at the moment:

It looks like you’ve managed to get this sorted but please let me know if you are seeing something different.

    Hi Gemma,

Thanks for taking a look at the site, that’s much appreciated.

More mysteriously is why you can see the tweets being displayed in the sidebar at the momment, depite having tried on several different computers, and logged into (and not) both WordPress and Twitter. Although ideally the tweets would be visible whether or not I was logged in (taking Twitter in its original microblogging form literally here).

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks!

    MiA

  • Good morning –

I am also able to see the Tweets in the sidebar of malariainasia.wordpress.com. This makes me think that there’s something unique to your set up that is preventing those from populating.

    Try this:

    – clear browser cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
    – disable any browser extensions
    – disable any ad blockers
