Why does WordPress keep losing my data
-
This past week login or some other stale cookie issue has made wordpress.com lose my data. I type away on my blog and I hit save draft and one of two things happen:
1) Wordpess takes me to a “are you sure you want to do that” page – and that means – are you sure you want me to not save your data? No I want you to save my data. If I press the back key the data is lost. If I press the yes link, the data is lost – seriously!! STOP losing my data!
2) Today – you lost my login cookie! So I was logged in, happily saving my draft and then I pressed save draft again and – you took me to the login page, I logged in and the data was lost! AGAIN!!!
Please get this straight. No matter what I do – your site is incapable of keeping me logged in and I lose data because of it!

As part of our security policy, the login cookie automatically expires every 2 weeks. Had it been 2 weeks since you last logged in?
We’re also making improvements to ensure that data isn’t lost by this.

To be honest I have no idea, nor do I wish to know. Who am I to tell you how to do this, but if it keeps going on, I might as well write it in wordpad and then transfer to WP to do the tagging and links :-(
I hope this can be fixed. It happens way too often, especially the more common case where I press save draft and somehow I am not connected or whatever, and you take me to that god forsaken “are you sure you want to do that” page! AHH!! That page is the bane of my existence! Happens at least two to three times a week. Not sure what i do to make that happen. I think it occurs when I unsleep my machine and continue typing on the previously open past that I was editing before I closed it. This is a serious pain as well.

Hm, the frequency of that is very odd, and the error sounds like a default browser error, like a dropped connection.
First, please make sure that your browser is up to date by visiting http://whatbrowser.org/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

1) I always use the latest firefox browser on my Mac
2) I have all cookies enabled
3) I can do that – not sure what that will get me – but I can try
4) I have used that feature since it came out – LOVE it!!! -
Excellent, I’d be interested to see if you run into the same issue with all add-ons and extensions disabled.
