why does wordpress need my facebook friends list?

    I very much want to link my blogs to my facebook account. But I don’t have permission to give out my friends information. I value my friends’ privacy as I do my own. Why does wordpress need my list of facebook friends before it will allow me to link my blog post to my facebook page?
