Why does WordPress tell me an available domain is unavailable?
-
I registered http://www.emilykathryn.com with Just Host about two years ago. I only used it for about 2 months, and then I canceled it. The page (emilykathryn.com) has not been online for some time, and Just Host has informed me that I can no longer log in because my old account does not exist anymore.
Upon further research, I stumble upon this: http://reports.internic.net/cgi/whois?whois_nic=www.emilykathryn.com&type=domain.
I am under the impression, based on these two things above, that my old domain should be available again. Is this not correct?
Any help would be appreciated. WordPress is by far easier to use and much less expensive than Just Host, so I would really like to stick with this!

In running a quick search on GoDaddy.com (our domain registrar), I see that your domain name is unavailable to register:
http://www.godaddy.com/domains/searchresults2.aspx?ci=16811Unfortunately, canceling domain ownership or letting domain ownership lapse does not guarantee that you will be able to renew that domain at a different registrar. Depending on when you cancelled your domain ownership, emilykathryn.com may become available to register in the future, however we cannot be sure that this will happen.
You may want to try calling your original registrar to see if it’s possible to get the domain name back. As an alternative, you may also be able to register emilykathryn.net, .org, or .me.
