why does wordpress .xml import not ask for file name but tells me "processing"?

When I attempt to import a WordPress .xml file exported from one of my other blogs, upon clicking import then WordPress, i immediately get

    “Import WordPress
    Processing…
We’re processing your import now and will send you an email when it’s all done. If you don’t hear from us within 24 hours, please contact support, and we’ll get everything fixed.”

I’m never asked to select a file name. One thing, though, I never got a confirmation email for the .xml file I imported last night. It’s there, and I’ve been working with it, but I never got an email that it was available and ready to be used.

    Thanks for your help!

Were you trying to import content into https://stemofmaterials.wordpress.com/?

If so, I’ve reset the importer. Could you try the import again? Sometimes the importer glitches for unknown reasons.

If the import doesn’t work the second time let me know and we’ll try something else.

I repeated the Import this morning, and the Import process seemed to proceed normally, but nothing from the imported file has shown up yet.

We were having issues with the WordPress importer over the last couple of days, but I believe a fix has been implemented. Could you try one more time for me?
