Why doesn't gigya shortcode work in Mozilla or Chrome but does in IE?
-
Gigya shortcode embeds for Flash-base slideshows work fine in IE, but not in Firefox or Chrome. Elsewhere alquilerenbuzios said that it was a problem with extensions but not how they solved it. I’ve tried lots of Firefox things with Flash Player which is current (v. 16), disabled hardware acceleration, enabled it at chrome://plugins/ and so on.
This worked fine until recently, and I noticed that alquilerenbuzios posted to the forum last November.
As said, the same code still works in IE.
Anyone know why this is happening and what could be done with extensions?

The gigya shortcode is a workaround provided by another Volunteer who no longer assists here. There is no Staff support for it and we cannot help you with your issue.

The gigya code was previously used as a workaround but now others are reporting it no longer works for them. Example: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/embed-livestream-recordings-not-live-streams?replies=1

The current theory is that since WPcom moved our sites to the secure https connection (a good thing), this has mostly killed any of the previously allowed but unsupported gigya workarounds that were used (an unhappy thing).
If you are seeing your previous gigya shortcodes work in IE and not Chrome or Firefox, check your browser’s security settings to see if you are allowing it. When I look at wpbtips website using IE11, I have a notification at the bottom of the screen https://cldup.com/2nn3XFXXyH.png that asks me whether I want to allow the display of unsecure content or not. The same thing is happening in Chrome and Firefox. Look for the shield or the locked icon in the address bar.

Thanks–that did it (and explained it). Something I should have known, but obviously didn’t.
