Why doesn't my blog name google correctly?

  • Unknown's avatar

If someone googles the name of my blog followed by my name (A Matter of Heart Macki Jones), why doesn’t my blog show up on the goggle list? Right now, an About Me blog website comes up but it says it is no longer available. How can I get my blog to come up when someone googles Matter of Heart Macki Jones?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is the free hosted WordPress.com blog linked to your username that’s devoid of any blogger created content http://mackijones.wordpress.com/

Th other free hosted WordPress.com blog linked to in the OP is at http://doyouwanttobehealed.wordpress.com/

We have no control over what Google chooses to post. All search engine issues are between the blogger and search engines.

Sorry, I still don’t get it. The page used to show up, but now it doesn’t. How do I get it back so when people google that term, my blog address comes up?

    What is the blog address?

http://mackijones.wordpress.com/ will not google well because google has no reason to index it, as it has no content.

http://doyouwanttobehealed.wordpress.com/ exists and is decently constructed, but if you want it to rank higher, you need to follow basic SEO tips. Having a URL that is the same as the blog name would help, for instance. You are also not using ANY tags or categories, which is a huge mistake. Use appropriate tags and categories up to about a dozen maximum on any one post. And disable Infinite Scroll, search engines don’t like it.

    @raincoaster

And disable Infinite Scroll, search engines don’t like it.

    re: blog fodder
Please email me links to your authoritative sources that support that statement.

Huh? Well, one of them is you. You’re the one who identified the problem with search engines downgrading pages with too many links, including the home page of the blog. Infinite scroll by its very nature violates that minimum you mentioned of, I think it was 100.

Also: compare SEO of blogs with infinite scroll and those without. Anecdotal evidence suggests shorter pages Google higher.

And Infinite Scroll just loads things up – one blog I subscribe to has I.S. and I thought I would page back and after awhile my browser just loaded up and would not respond except at the speed of molasses in the Arctic winter – about 30 page backs I think things just stopped – so older content on blogs is not easy to get to – overall sucks –

Thank you timethief and raincoaster for your help. I am not technology savvy at all…simply a writer who posts on a blog to build an audience. I will change the URL for my blog to its name A Matter of Heart; however, many people know the other URL and I do not want to lose their following. Is there a way to change the URL but have the old URL (doyouwanttobehealed.wordpress.com) be redirected to the new one when someone tries to access that address? Or is there a way to post the new URL onto the old one? I’m not sure how I should do this without losing my following. Thanks again for your help.

    Hi Macki,

You can change your site’s URL here:

    Changing a Blog Address

As mentioned on that page, if you do change your blog address, permalinks to your old address, including search engine results, will be broken unless you purchase a Site Redirect upgrade.

Please let me know if you need any help with this.

Thank you Richard. I am going to give it a try and hopefully I will have no problems. I’ll contact you if I do.
