Why Doesn’t my Blog show on Google

  • Unknown's avatar

I selected the option of having the blog open to search engines etc. But when I Googled my blog title – Old Is The New Black – it didn’t show up. I’m wondering why not. NB I also have a second blog which has the same title but with all the words joined together./ That was my first go and a mistake that I now want to delete. But again I have no idea how to delete a blog.

IN summary I want to delete one of my blog and make sure the other one shows up on Google so I actually get some followers.

Thanks in advance for any helkp anyone can give.

Have you tried a forum search? This question is answered multiple times a day. I don’t mean to sound cranky, but somewhere after answer 900 one gets crochety.

So, yes, the question “Why doesn’t my blog show on Google” has now been asked 901 times so far (right, raincoaster? ;-)

However, you also asked about deleting the unwanted blog. Not sure if that will fix your problem, but here’s how (if the blog in question is at WordPress.com of course):

I recommend you make it private instead, as the article suggests.

Quick call Google – they have missed a 3 day old blog with NO Posts – a major malfunction of their system – Call Congress for an investigation! :)

More serious – look back in the Forum for 24 to 36 hours – you should find many threads to deal with your “problem”

    1. It can take 4-6 weeks for search engines to index a new site. Sometimes it takes less, but still in the order of 2 weeks minimum.

    2. They won’t pay any attention to a blog with only one single hello world post.

    3. Having another blog has nothing to do with a 3 day old blog NOT yet being indexed.

    4. WordPress will not even alert the search engines via pinging until you have actually CREATED a post. The Hello World post came with the blog and it doesn’t count.

    5. There are literally billions of website changes each and every day that google gets pinged to have a look at.

@TSP: thanks for #3. I thought having two blogs under the same name was like “content duplication”.

I think that has more to do with actual content rather than a blog title, especially since the new blog has no content yet.

I always say the internet is like a sewer: what you get out of it depends on what you put into it.
