Why doesn't my zoho email work?
-
I managed to talk to Zoho and have them manually verify my website and set up the email but nothing is coming through. I set up the MX and CNAME records but they say I have to do them with GoDaddy. What do I do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Melissa! If this email for your domain, melissawessel.com/, which is linked to your WordPress.com site, melissawesselphotography.wordpress.com/?
If so, you can add the MX and CNAME records through you site’s Dashboard. This link will walk you through the process:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/add-email-through-zoho-mail/
Please let me know if you need further assistance!

I had already set up the MX and CNAME records for melissawessel.com, which is what I want the email for. In my dashboard, melissawesselphotography.wordpress.com is not edit-able.
-
It is your custom domain that gets the MX and CNAME records, not your WordPress.com site.
If you want melissawessel.com and melissawesselphotography.wordpress.com mapped together, with Zoho mail displaying an @melissawessel.com address, then you do not have your name servers set up correctly.
If the above mapping is your aim, you’ll click Store → My Domains. Click melissawessel.com/.
Follow these instructions to complete the process:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/#changing-domain-name-serversAdjust your settings to: “Use WordPress.com Name Servers.” Then save your changes.
Finally, you’ll update melissawessel.com to act as your primary domain.
This should connect your WordPress.com site, your Custom Domain, and your Zoho Mail.
I’m curious, you said:
I set up the MX and CNAME records but they say I have to do them with GoDaddy.
Why did they suggest updating your site at GoDaddy? Do you have another Custom Domain registered elsewhere?
If you have questions about the process, let me know and I can help you through.

I’m wondering about the name servers. Because I actually currently point melissawessel.com to my squarespace website melissa-wessel.squarespace.com so I don’t want melissawessel.com pointing to melissawesselphotography.wordpress.com.
You said
It is your custom domain that gets the MX and CNAME records, not your WordPress.com site.
but I did edit the melissawessel.com not the melissawesselphotography.wordpress.com. What am I doing wrong?
Regarding the GoDaddy, that’s just what they thought my domain was with? I don’t know, I assumed you guys went through go daddy or something.

Melissa,
I actually currently point melissawessel.com to my squarespace website melissa-wessel.squarespace.com so I don’t want melissawessel.com pointing to melissawesselphotography.wordpress.com.
Since you no longer want your domain pointing to your WordPress.com site, my first suggestion would be to transfer your domain to make things easier on you. Having your domain here is definitely complicating matters for you!
However, since you are hosted here right now, let’s get you settled.
If you were using A records to point the domain to Squarespace, you’d have to update the MX records with us. But it appears as if you have already changed nameservers, so it wouldn’t be something you would update through us at this point.
Get back to me and let me know how you’d like to proceed, and we’ll move your forward. Thanks!

Okay so my option is change name servers back to wordpress and then use A record to point to squarespace and then I’ll be able to do the MX through wordpress? I don’t want to transfer right now as I just paid for another year of hosting with you guys.
-
Melissa, Exactly. You just need to choose the route you wish to take, and you’ll run smoothly.
Keep an eye out for a private email from me. Thanks much!
