Why doesn’t the post format look anything like the theme preview?
I am very new to word press, but I believe I have a solid basic understanding of the platform. With that said, I am having trouble with my posts.
With the “Active” theme, the preview shows posts listed on the website with a photograph and basic text/header to the right of the post. However, when I create a post, their is no image with text, instead just the entire post. How do I get my attempted post to look like the format in the “Active” theme preview?
Thanks for your time,
Jason

The header image on Untitled doesn’t work as on most themes. It’s not designed for a full-width image, it’s designed for a small logo. Check the theme demo: http://untitleddemo.wordpress.com/
Go to the theme description page I linked to above please and scroll down to
“To set up Untitled’s Front Page Slider:”
Navigate to Settings → Reading.
Scroll down to the section labeled “Featured Content”.
Enter the name of a tag.
Click the blue “Save Changes” button at the bottom.
Create a post with a featured image that’s at least 1024px wide.
Note: Featured image dimensions are critical to their display. The featured image will look best at these dimensions: 1440px wide, 400px tall.
Give the post the tag you declared under Settings → Reading → Featured Content. -
oops! Go to the theme description page at this link please Untitled theme description http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/untitled/

Thanks so much for your help and for getting back to me SOOO quickly!
I had one final question. I would like to put my posts into specific pages on the website. Is there a way to simply take my posts and add them to a specific subpage?
Thanks again,
Jason

There is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. However, we can create the appearance that we have done that by setting up a custom menu and displaying Categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation menu. Instructions > custom menus > http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
We organize our posts by use of categories. To organize your posts, assign categories and sub-categories, create a custom menu and include them in it.

So essentially what you are saying is the home screen in the Untitled theme is the only page where I can insert various posts/image links?
I am trying to have the same page set/format up for all my individual pages, not just the home page.
Thank you again so much for your help.

What I posted on custom menus is NOT theme dependent. It’s a blog characteristic.
(1) There is only one page we can post to in any blog.
(2) The static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ we bloggers create do not automatically update.Only the dynamic pages like Archives, Categories and Tags created by the software when we publish a post will update automatically update with new posts.
By default the front page of the blog is the Page that displays all posts in your blog. You can create a static front page and have your published posts display on another page http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ but doing that does not change what follows.
Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
Setting up a menu is easy as pie, provided you know the differences between Posts and Pages, and the differences between static Pages, (which will never automatically update) and dynamic Categories pages which will automatically update when you publish Posts with Categories assigned to them.

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.
