why doesn’t wordpress accept .co.uk domains

  • Unknown's avatar

I had a free domain but never got round to setting up the website. Hoever, when I tired to transfer to wordpress, it say it doesn’t accept .co.uk domains. Why? And the system doesn’t explain very well what domain mapping means. I don’t want to pay twice to keep the .co.uk

Can I transfer it to another domain with an ‘acceptable’ domain address

  • Hi there,

Hoever, when I tired to transfer to wordpress, it say it doesn’t accept .co.uk domains. Why?

There are just a few CCtlds we can’t accept here, and .co.uk is one of them. But you’d be welcome to map the domain instead, for now. Here’s how:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Clarifying too, you’ll still need to pay for your domain each year, even if you have a plan here with us. We just cover one year for the transfer.
