Why doesn't WordPress support the element?
-
The horizontal rule is both an HTML 4.01 and an HTML 5.0 I have also tried the XHTML version where the tag is closed <hr />
It shows up in the visual editor. Doesn’t show up in the PREVIEW. Or in the published
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

According to this support doc https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/ HR is definitely supported, so I’ve tagged this for Staff attention.
But, it may be the theme you are using as well.

It may be the theme I am using, but I don’t know why that would be.
The post is: https://wheelgun.wordpress.com/2015/06/13/june-and-gay-pride/
It displays correctly on the main page of the blog, but NOT on the individual page.

I do see a very thin line under the rainbow flag in that post.
I’m viewing with Chrome 43 on Win7Pro. What browser are you using?
-

hmmm… maybe it is something to do with IE vs Firefox….
I am using Firefox 38.0.5, Windows 7 Professional (64 bit) Service Pack 1 plus updates.
Yeah, the rule is very thin. That I see on the main page of the blog and is a function of the theme… I haven’t figured out how to change it, but I don’t use it that often….
-
I should have said… I don’t have a current version of Chrome installed, but it does work OK in IE…
-
Screen shots of Firefox.
The main page showing the rule
The individual post without the rule.
So is this a theme problem, a Firefox problem or what? It isn’t the end of the world but would like some hint as to where to turn next?
-
Same OS here, and I see the rule in the single post view in each of these three browsers:
Chrome 43.0.2357.124 m
FF 38.0.5
IE 11.0.9600I agree this is annoying, but if you want to change the thickness of the HR tag, you will have to do that with the CSS upgrade if you can’t do it with an inline CSS style (since many inline CSS no longer work).
