Why don't I receive forwarded emails?
-
Hi
I’ve just (yesterday) set up email forwarding, and I also verified the email forwarding address through the link you sent me. I’ve tried several times to test-send mails back and forth, but they just don’t seem to appear anywhere, when I send anything to the address that should forward it to my ‘real’ mails.
I hope I didn’t confuse you too much! I really need urgent help as I’ve set up the new address to be my business mail, but if I don’t receive the mails sent to it – I’m in trouble!
Thanks

Hi Caroline,
I see that your forwarding goes in to Gmail. Make sure that you’re checking any social media or promotions tabs which you have set up, and you may want to check your spam folder as well.
If you still don’t see your test messages (make sure you don’t have the word “test” in there anywhere, as their firewall-level spam filters will frequently block such messages and you may not get them at all), then you may need to remove the forwarding entirely and re-set it up.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi!
Thank you so much for your fast reply.
I have not set up any social media nor promotion tabs, and I’ve checked the junk folder a million times (well, the Gmail was created in relation to this whole forwarding-system, so there’s not much going on already).None of the emails have included the word “test”. I removed the forwarding from the whole “My Domain”-thing, and sat it up again. Still nothing! Any other ideas…?

I’m sorry I misspoke. Gmail has social media and promotion tabs set up by default in your account, and emails from WordPress.com sometimes get caught up in those. You may want to check there.
I also noticed that your domain is currently pending transfer and that you just recently accepted the transfer. Once the domain is with your new registrar, any email forwarding will stop working as only domains registered with WordPress.com can use our email forwarding service.

Holy s… it’s getting transferred? How on Earth do I stop that from happening! Everything with my domain has been chaos the past few weeks!
But thanks for the forwarding thing – I’ll have a look at the default settings. Then I just have to stop that transfer!

I went in and enabled domain locking, which is something designed to prevent domain transfers and hopefully will put the brakes on this one if it isn’t a glitch.
I did look in to it a bit, and it looks like the transfer was accepted by someone who was logged in from the same IP address which you frequently are logged in through. While it still could potentially be a glitch, it doesn’t appear that anyone has hacked your account or anything. You’re sure you didn’t request to transfer your domain to another registrar in the last couple of days?

Yes, pretty sure.
However, it still fails to forward mails – what can I do? It’s necessary for me to have it work. -
Hi Caroline,
I just checked and confirmed that your domain is still registered here at WordPress.com, so it looks like that pending domain transfer was a false alarm (or was successfully cancelled).
For your email forwarding, are you testing it by sending an email from the same email address you are trying to forward to? That won’t work — the emails have to be sent from a different email address.
I just sent you an email, to the email address you set up for email forwarding. If you don’t see that forwarded email in your inbox, please check your spam and try searching your email for the subject line “Email from WordPress.com Support” to see if it ended up in a different folder. If that test email didn’t come through anywhere, please let me know!
