Why don’t my comments on other blogs link to mine?

Whenever I used to make comments on someone else’s blog, my name would appear as a hyperlink, linking to my own blog. This doesn’t seem to be happening any more and I have no idea why. I’ve been into Appearance > Extras and have double-checked that the Hide box isn’t ticked. What else can I do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Do be aware that there are two types of wordpress blogs, and they are not connected. There are the blogs which are hosted here at wordpress.COM, and those should link if you have your username linked to your blog (which you do) and you are signed into wordpress.
Then there are the self-hosted wordpress blogs. If you are signed in here, and you go to comment on a self-hosted wordpress blog, it will show the email, username and website fields above the comment text box instead of just saying, “logged in as yourname”.
I have one of my test blogs here set to public at the moment, and you can go there and leave a comment and I’ll check to see if it shows up with the link intact. http://allhatnocattle.wordpress.com/ . I think all that is there is the Hello World post.

Cheers for this. I think I may have sussed the root of the problem. A while ago, I got pissed off with the supposedly connected posts that were automatically generated by WordPress and decided to ‘hide’ my blog. When I changed my mind, I’d unchecked that box, but I hadn’t reinstated my blog URL in my Profile. I’ve now done that, so we’ll see if it works when I comment on your site.

I also need the same help. The problem isn’t any of the ones mentioned(privacy settings, extras, wp.org vs. wp.com) I left a comment on your test blog. I had no idea this was happening until someone whose blog I commented on sent me an e-mail saying they couldn’t link to my blog from my comment. I then checked the other comments I have made on others blogs and it was the same there too. My blog name will show up above my comment but not with the link to my blog. Thanks in advance for any help.

Ok, it is,, don’t ask me why. When ever I click on my name (when it says “Logged in as …” and i click on it, I go to my dashboard. It never takes me to my site,, only into my dashboard. Is this just because I am signed in and it is me doing the clicking or would others go to my dashboard if they click on my name?????

On the comment you left on my test blog it just left a “http://” with nothing after it. Go to users > your profile, and in the “website” field, delete what is there, then click “update profile,” and then go back and put your blog address in again and then “update profile” again.

I wrote comment 6 there and linked to my blogger blog.
then I became member and wrote comment 8.
the only way now to write a comment, that links anywhere, seems to be to write it logged out.

they both link to my blogger blog and not to my worldpress blog.

@maichopgohok, that is because your username is linked to the blogspot blog. Go to users > your profile and change the URL in the “website” field to your wordpress.COM blog and then click “update profile.”

ah, ok, ic, ty, I thought that should come automatically from the “primary blog” link.
but what to do about this “self-hosted wordpress blogs” ?
is http://adreampuppet.wordpress.com/ a self-hosted wordpress blog ?
how can I see that ?
and is there another way to get a link in the name exept logging out of worldpress ?
cause that was my first intention to sign up here, to be able to comment as a member, and now that seems rather absurd and useless despite I might start blogging here sooner or later.

http://adreampuppet.wordpress.com/ is not self-hosted, it is hosted here one he wordpress.COM free hosting service. If you want to use a different link than the one tied to your username, then you have to log out of wordpress and fill the stuff in manually when you comment.
The username on comment 6 is Karl, and the username on comment 8 is maichopgohok. That indicates that either you were logged out when you made comment 6 or logged in under a different username.

I described that allready : when I wrote comment 6, I didn´t have a username here ever.
after that I registered in order to appear more correct, wrote comment 8 and realised after finding this help thread, that I have to log out to do in this thread what I actually registered for.
I don´t think the owner removed the link, cause it wasn´t there directly after posting.
but I see what u mean, I just tried it with a test comment on my new blog here, I can edit comments and remove or add whatever nonsense link to the name I want, that´s strange :

and just now I wrote another posting in that mojo thrad and it works as it should :
maybe my account was so new, that it didn´t have a comment ?
but when I changed the link after ur advice, the link immediately changed in my test comments.
so the owner removed it, right ?
