Why don't my embedded YouTube videos show at the width I've selected?
-
I’ve been embedding YouTube videos on my site.
(see http://peterhmurray.com/about/surrender-dorothy/)Since it’s a pretty low-res video, I’d like it to appear at a smaller size than full-width.
So I followed the instructions and embedded it by placing this on the page:
[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORqRw81mV6U&w=320]But it still appears as full width…
Is this an issue related to my template (Soundcheck)?
Or is there a fix you can advise me of?Thank you!

Hi Peter,
It looks like this is due to the styling applied by the theme to YouTube embeds. It’s similar to the styling discussed here:

You could style all of your YouTube embeds however using the following CSS.
.embed-youtube iframe { width: 50%; height: 50%; }Just input that under Appearance -> Customize -> CSS. You can adjust the percentages up and down to achieve the size you’re looking for. Also, just for future reference, we have a forum devoted to CSS customizations here:

In case you’re interested to learn a bit more, we have some information and resources here:
