Why don't my images appear when previewing a new theme?
-
Hi,
I’m looking at new premium themes to upgrade to, but when I preview possible themes, I only see the heading of my blog posts without their images. Themes I have looked at include Thestyle, Traveler and Nexus – all look good themes with images, but when I preview my blog my images do not appear. Please can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your images are far too large and not optimized for the web, so the Previewer is choking on them. Please optimize them to 72dpi which is all the web can display anyway, and they will show up AND you won’t eat up your allotted space so quickly.

I don’t think it’s an issue with the size of the images. Rather, I think the issue is that all of the themes you mentioned (Thestyle, Traveler and Nexus) use something called featured images, and you probably don’t have any featured images setup for your posts.
Here is a guid about how to setup featured images:

Ah, that’s what I get for not following theme design. But still, never a bad idea to optimize the photos.

Hi both and thanks for the help. I’m having trouble setting featured images for my posts. The ‘featured image’ tickbox is not appearing in my ‘screen options’ and is not on my edit post page. Please can you tell me how to get this? Cheers!

@aBitofCulture, make sure featured images is checked in the screen options tab. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/
