Why don't my posts appear when published?

I schedule posts the day before, and they seem to be “publishing” on time according to the back end, in that their status changes from “scheduled” to “published” at the right time. But they don’t actually appear on the website and no actual publicity goes out via Facebook or Twitter. The only way I can get them to appear is to update them, at which point the publicize feature also doesn’t work (I assume because it’s not programmed to notify on updates). What’s up?

Note scheduled post publication is triggered the first visitor clicking into your blog after your post was scheduled. It will still state that it was posted on the time and date that you specified, but it will not actually go up until someone visits your site and triggers publication. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/schedule-a-post/

But when *I* go to the website, the post isn’t there. Today I did it before I logged on, so it wasn’t like the website knew it was the admin.

Were you logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog in question?

No, I wasn’t logged in at all. So I should have been the first visitor, and the post still didn’t appear, even when I refreshed the page.

What is the title of the post that did not publish?
Can you locate it at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts
and then edit it so you can check the post date and visibility settings?

They *all* don’t publish. In order to get them to publish, I have to log in, go to the post edit page, and click “update.” Then they publish — but nothing appears on Facebook or Twitter.
This happens with every single post, even demo ones I schedule for testing purposes.

I just set a test post for five minutes out, and it worked fine. I’m going to set some up with different times out and see if it’s a problem because I”m scheduling them too far ahead?

Hi aldenm2,
One thing that comes to mind: note that the time setting for a scheduled post is a 24 hour clock, so if you want something to publish at 6pm, you need to schedule it for 18:00.
Another point: make sure your blog time zone (Under Settings > General) corresponds to your own time zone.
If neither of these things help resolve the issue, I’ll need to look into this further for you.
The next time you schedule a post, if it doesn’t publish at the date/time you scheduled it, please post back here and let me know, but do not publish it manually, so I can take a look. If you wish, I can publish it for you as soon as I’ve confirmed that it’s not working properly – just let me know.
