Why don't my scheduled blog posts publicize but manual posts do?
-
Only manually posted blogs are publicizing to our predetermined spots – Facebook, G+ and Twitter. Scheduled blog posts are not publicizing. All publicize settings are in place. Do you have any suggestions for me?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The post needs to publish before it’s publicized, and a scheduled post needs an action trigger to publish. The first visitor to your site after the date and time scheduled triggers publication.

Thanks for the quick suggestion timethief. I tested this method by scheduling a post, logging out and visiting the site, then clicking on that specific scheduled post – it didn’t publicize.
The scheduled posts are showing up on the blog and I have learned they are publicizing to Facebook and G+, just not twitter. If you or anyone else has more suggestions or theories please let me know.

Hi Kirk,
Were you using our new editor (some folks call it the “Beep Beep Boop” editor) or the post editor in /wp-admin/ ?
We initially had some Publicize problems with posts that were saved as drafts, then scheduled, when the new editor was first released in December — but I haven’t seen that issue in a while. I’d just like to replicate your workflow as closely as possible to recreate the issue.
Your blog’s records aren’t showing any Publicize errors, but it’s still a good idea to disconnect and re-connect each network whenever posts aren’t pushing out. Would you mind doing that as a first step while I test this out?

Hi Alex,
I use the post editor in wp-admin. I did disconnect and reconnect the associated accounts and I’ll give that a day to take. Thanks for the response and the suggestion. I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks Kirk!
I did have another user report the same problem, so I’m trying to keep a close eye on Publicize. So far I’ve not been able to replicate the failed posting, but these errors can be tricky to track down.
Let me know as soon it happens again and if you can tell me what steps you took with that post it’d help. :) I’ll keep trying on my end though!

Perhaps four years ago this error also occurred. Maybe the historical solution will work as well?

Alex,
Thank you for the attention. I’ll have some additional data for you on Monday.

Good Morning Alex,
Disconnecting and reconnecting may have been the simple fix, my scheduled post did publicize to twitter, FB and G+ this morning. I scheduled the blog at 3:45 pm Friday for a 7:45 am Monday posting.
I will also try to schedule a post with a much shorter time in between the schedule and posting to see if that makes a difference, most likely tomorrow.
For now, thank you for the input – I hope the fix is this simple.

Hi Kirk!
Glad it worked. :)
Let me know how the next attempt goes. If that one goes through too we’ll close the book on the case for now.

It is all working according to plan. Thank you for hanging with us – especially with such a simple fix. Close the book, case closed.
