I cannot post because the insert link & the remove link keys do not work.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s usually an indication of a browser related issue. But sometimes bloggers don’t understand they have to highlight the text they want to link to or unlink from before they click the relevant icon in the post editor.
This is the guide for creating links in posts and pages: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/
This is the general link model:
Highlighted anchor text here
This is the visual result – it’s not actually linked here in this forum thread.
Highlighted anchor text here1. Enter the anchor text you want to link to first.
2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don’t highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
3. Next click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link.If that does not solve your issue then please work through what follows and report back.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/

(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
4. You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download and install the latest version of flash.
5. Try using another browser.
6. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/
(c) Exactly what you experience including what any error reports you receive state. -
Thanks much timethief. I just bought a new computer (a Dell desktop pc. I am seriously thinking of returning it.
It is all screwed up w/pop-ups whch slow it down and I can’t reach Dell support by phone until tom am. Further this Windows 8 has no system restore. As soon as I resolve these issues w/Dell, I will try your suggestions w/word press. Again, I appreciate the thief who stole the time to send me this advice. Best, esco20 -
Frankly, it sounds like your browser is infected with malware. Disable ALL of your browser add-ons and extensions and only re-add them one by one to determine which is doing this. Then delete it permanently.
