Why "freshness" instead of date and time?

I’m trying, with difficulty, to come to grips with WordPress and this forum. I’ll try to ask specific questions in separate posts about the former, but on the latter — is it possible to show the date and time of the most recent post on a particular topic instead of the period since that last post? “Freshness” seems to me to serve no useful purpose except to make it much harder to find a particular post.

The short answer is No. The long answer is, it’s theoretically possible, but would require changing the underlying code of the forum and this forum software has been very, very successful. I doubt they’re going to change it.
If you want to keep track of threads, you can Favorite them, subscribe by email by ticking the box below the box you write your posts in here, or just click on the word Member under your name and if you posted in the thread, it’ll show up on your member page.

Thank you, raincoaster. I accept what you say in your first para — I just wondered if there was a user choice that could change the column format. But no big deal.
In your second para, the email notification I knew about, but the other 2 were news to me and that’s very helpful — solves my immediate problem. Thanks again. -

As questions occur to you, try a forum search. I’ve been here seven years and it’s a rare question I’ve never answered before. But the search function that’s built in isn’t working very well right now, so I always do a google search, like:
bingo generators site:en.forums.wordpress.com
If you put that in Google it will bring up all the “bingo generators” references in this forum.

Yes, I’ve tried searching the forum but it didn’t even find a post when I put in two words that were in the title!
That Google search idea is neat — thanks, I’ll try it.
