Why has a discussion been closed when the issue is unresolved?

    I am receiving daily emails for posts to which I have subscribed weekly. When I search ‘help’ I find a discussion thread which ended on September 25, acknowledging that there’s a problem and saying WordPress is working on a solution. It then says ‘this discussion is now closed.’ So what is happening and why is the weekly option not working?
