why has my sidebar moved to bottom of page???
-
Have had no prob w sidebar since opening this blog 3 weeks ago. guatemala2008.wordpress.com
But today, while simply editing (reducing size of some photos), the sidebar on the homepage vanished to the bottom of the page. It’s still just fine on individual posts. While I was editing photos, in fact, the sidebar came and went several times. Totally screwy… -
In facts and figures, your image, temple.jpg, is too wide for the theme. Ocean Mist is limited to 500px wide.

I don´t think image size can be acceptable and compatible with the theme for months and months and then suddenly, within the past couple of days, become unacceptable. I am having this problem at fightingwindmills.wordpress.com and I cannot figure out why. It is not the div unclosed tag for those posts where I have checked the code and it is not the size of the images as far as I can tell. When I try a different them it doesn´t fix the problem because The Journalist is probably the widest theme out there, which is the one I have used for months.

@fightingwindmills, don’t post the same thing in two different threads as it ends up causing us volunteers to run in circles. See the other thread, I made a suggestion on how to figure out which post is causing the issue. The image width mentioned above does not apply to you. It was an answer for katartizo.

sacredpath, this is katartizo, and my ocean mist is doing the same thing, and none of the pix are too wide. in fact the problem of the sidebar moving to the bottom only started when I was REDUCING the pixel size of some pix. prior to that, I’d had one pic that was over 1000 pixels wide and no problemo w sidebar. the sidebar is fine on the individual posts, it’s just on the homepage where the prob is????
-
fyi, the temple image has been the same size since originally posting it and never any problem w sidebar being at the bottom :)
-
resized the temple just to be sure, problem still exists. went thru and closed tags on code page on every post, problem still exists!

this just gets richer and richer – not! y-day I moved pix of traffic on post “new aromas” to ‘read more’ page. just moved it back to front page of post and up comes the sidebar where it should be … BUT, now I cannot change the spacing of that post. Can’t put paragraph breaks where they should be. Change the spacing, click Save, and spacing goes right back to where it (incorrectly) was!? geez, I don’t need to be spending my time with crap like this. Anybody got a blog site to recommend that actually works right – as in all the time!? Thanks…
-
Just rebuilt the whole post in order to get around the seemingly unsolvable problems. Ya know, any time I’m spending more time solving problems (that shouldn’t exist in the first place – and aren’t clearly covered in the faqs), than I am creating, then it’s just not worth it …

I’m just a sometimes volunteer on the forum, but I cannot disagree with you. The more tag seems to randomly break div tags (the ending tag ends up after the more tag) which causes layout to go b0rk. This shouldn’t happen. It didn’t 3 or 4 months ago. Why now? And that’s just one of the problems that shouldn’t happen that are happening now.
I have no answer except to suggest changes on a case by case basis, and looking at them in several browsers and using Firebug to figure out what could be causing the problems.
You ought to be on this side dealing with the same issues again, and again, and again.
