Why has the Auto-Focus theme stopped displaying an image on my home page?

I’ve been using Auto-Focus as a theme since I created my WordPress blog. While I’ve not been very prolific with writing, I don’t know if that is a factor as to why the last few entries don’t show an image (or at least part of one) in the “preview” on the home page. I’ve “cleared” cache and cookies, which (I think) are a part of one’s browsing “history.”

Has Auto-Focus become a theme that no longer shows an image on new posts, even though the old posts still show an image? In the past, Auto-Focus has always shown at least a part of the first (or only) photo. Similar to the need to “reload” software on occasion, might I need to change away from Auto-Focus and then back to Auto-Focus?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

That is a strange problem. Based on the theme’s description if you don’t set a featured image, the first photo in your post (assuming you uploaded the image to your media library rather than linked it by url) should show on the front page.

Could we try an experiment? Will you set a featured image on one of the posts that doesn’t have an image showing up on the front page right now and see if that makes a difference? You shouldn’t have to do that, but it will be useful to know if that is a work around to the current strange behavior.

    Experiment is right…

…as far as bloggers go, I’m ignorant as all get out. I use Windows Live Writer for publishing to the blog. I guess I’ll need to go into the WordPress side to see if I can find a way to “set a featured image” for this experiment. Live Writer has spoiled me in that it is “generally” pretty simple.

    Lizthefair,

That worked to set the photo into the preview. It seems odd because I had never had to do that in the past. I had originally created my blog over at “another” blog provider site and then imported it to WordPress when I became “unhappy” with their policies overall. When I imported all my posts from that other site, they came over but the first image wouldn’t display. Now, I know how to fix those.

I suppose that it is possible that something has changed in the “internals” of the Auto-Focus theme that now requires one to set a feature image.

    Thanks so very much.

You are more than “fair;” you’re an angel for helping.
