Why has the background to one of my blog posts turned blue?
-
I was editing my post like normal, adding a Featured image, images within the text, and making some words bold or italic, when I then tried to preview my post before publishing it it appeared blue. Thinking it may have just been a technical fault with my laptop, I published the post anyway and looking at it now, it actually is blue and I can’t figure out how to get rid of it. I’ve tried refreshing, reposting and even deleting the post and doing it again. Please help, it’s for a university project and I can’t let a design issue come up..

This is the link to the detailed theme description page https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/ideation-and-intent/
I think that you may have copied and pasted text from elsewhere that had the background color in it. In that case you would have to switch to the Text (HTML) editor and remove the code.
Or that you may have created a sticky post. In that case you can edit and change that. See here http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts

Just checked the sticky post check box and it is not ticked to be a sticky post and I also have nothing in their that was copied and pasted, everything was typed and pictures inserted properly through my computer and the ‘Add Media’ tab in editor.
But if there was some sort of code in the Text editor that I would need to look out for, do you have any idea what it could be? (I’m not very knowledgeable about the Text rather the Visual editor)

That’s not a problem, Thank you for getting back to me so quick and helping with what you can anyway, really appreciated.
Already subscribed, thank you -

Ok, so it looks like your problem might be that you created a link that encompasses your whole post.
When I look at it, the whole post is showing as linked.
So I suggest two things. Select the whole post in the editting window and click the “unlink” button in the toolbar.
Or re-write the whole post from scratch, without including any links.
I also notice that your featured image is not appearing on the front page, this could be related somehow.
-
Ok, so I’ve tried unlinking and retyping it all with no links and it’s still appearing as blue when I preview it.
The featured image is only seen when on the ‘Home’ page rather than in the post itself if that’s what you mean.

This is actually a really silly bug you’ve come across.
I don’t know how much you know about CSS, but there are things called ‘classes’ that you use to identify parts of the page so you can apply certain styles. One of the classes in this theme is ‘tag-links’ which makes the little blue boxes behind your tags on your other posts.
However, when you add a tag to a post, that post gets a class titled ‘tag-____’ where the blank space is your tag. In this case one of your tags is ‘links’ which creates the class ‘tag-links’ making the whole post blue.
I’m going to report this to the developers and see if we can get that class name changed to something that won’t cause a conflict in the future. But if you’d like an immediate fix, change your tag slightly. For example the tag ‘link’ instead of ‘links’ would make this not happen.

Ah I see that makes sense! Thank you so much, it appears to be working and back to normal now. Now I know for the future, so much appreciated!
And also thanks for answering this so quickly to all of you! -
