Why have images on my pages suddenly changed size and are getting cut off?

  Images on my page have suddenly changed size. I have them set out in tables and these were all sized correctly to display across the width of the page. I recently noticed that all the images have suddenly increased in sized so that the right side images end up getting cut partially off. After investigation it appears there is something in the theme that has maybe updated and is forcing images to set size of small medium or large from what I can establish. So for instance despite me setting an image width of 200px it is displaying as 300px. And if I have it st to 120px is it displaying as 150px. The page has been going for a while and was fine until I notice a month or so back. I have found a very long winded work around using styles after a lot of playing around but this is far from ideal as it will result in hours of editing which I don’t have time to do. I am hoping there is a way to change whatever is globally forcing these image sizes and that requires far less work? Please let me know.
