Why have my international readers disappeared?

  Up until about three weeks ago I had a very substantial international readership each week, especially from the UK, Canada, and South Africa. These readers are no longer showing up in the views by country by day. Only US readers are registering. If they are not accruing by country, then perhaps they are not being counted at all.

  The question is, why aren’t they being counted? Are they still reading the blog, but not being captured in stats, or are they blocked or not able to find or get to the link to the blog for some reason?

  Archival international views by quarter and all time by country remain, but the numbers of international views are not increasing consistent with their absence in the daily stats.

  It is very unlikely that all international readers stopped visiting my blog all at once. Please look into this because it is quite disconcerting. Thank you for your help.

  Hi there,

  I’m not seeing anything unusual about your stats, and while traffic to a site can vary by quite a bit, your site appears to be tracking visits correctly.

  Be aware that our stats are available in realtime. It is also important to note that likes, follows, shares, reblogs, and views of your site from within the WordPress.com reader are not considered “page views” and not counted in your site’s stats.

  Thank you for your response to my concern. However, the information you provided does not explain the facts of this case. I had substantial numbers of international readers for months prior to this issue who were accruing in the stats as visitors to my blog. Suddenly, they all disappeared; I now appear to have no international readers.

  Based on the information you provided, in order for this to happen all of them in all countries would have had to either stop reading my blog, or all open accounts in WordPress at the same time and all use Reader exclusively to view the blog. The probability of this happening approaches zero.

  Therefore, there must be some other explanation that we have not considered. I would be grateful if you would look into this in more depth. The apparent loss of data on international readers is easy to detect. It is possible that many of my US readers are not accruing to stats also for the same reasons as the international ones.
