Why have my photos stopped showing up in my email shares?

My featured photo is not appearing when I share the post via email. It used to and now it isn’t. I haven’t changed any settings or templates. AND I’ve optimized the photos so it’s not a size issue.

Hi Kathryn, I’m simply clicking on the share icon for email option after my new post is published. I then put in the email address and security words and send. It arrives in my email but WITHOUT the blog photo. In its place is my profile photo. I’m doing it the same way I always have and it’s always worked before. ??? Thanks for your help!

Thanks for that information! Do you still have one of the old emails that was displaying the photo? It would be very helpful if you wouldn’t mind taking a screenshot of an example to help in troubleshooting?

OK – I’m doing that right now. One shows how it used to look – the SUMMER post. The “current” shows what it does now. :(

When you use the “share by email” button to send a post to someone, it always sends an excerpt of the post, not the full post with images.
Your full-post screenshot is actually what you received through your blog subscription, and not what you get when using the “share by email” button. You’re currently subscribed to get email notifications of your own posts.
You can tell the difference between the two types of emails, because the ones shared manually through the button below the post says [SHARED POST] at the beginning of the subject line. They also say something like “so-and-so shared a post from A Clear Place.” You can see an example in this screenshot:

On the other hand, the message that come through your email subscription have [New post] in the subject line, which you can see in this screenshot:

I do understand the difference BUT the “new post” email that came this time did not have the photo. That’s the problem. Unfortunately, I deleted it so I can show you. Is there anyway you can trace it to see what I mean?
The whole reason I need the photo to appear is that I forward that email to my contact list and they need to see the featured card. Not another photo of me. :) Unless you can share another way to get it to my list, this is the only tool I know of.

Could you please take a screenshot of it the next time it happens so I can take a look?
Ideally you should ask your mailing list folks to subscribe to your blog themselves, so you don’t need to do any manual forwarding. Folks who don’t have a WordPress.com can sign up just by entering their email address. They’ll see a box like this in the sidebar of your site:
