Why have my text colors changed for my titles and sidebar text grayed out?
-
The titles of all my blogs have suddenly changed color from default white to red. Also, the text under “Most Recent Posts” on the sidebar is grayed out. I have not tampered with any settings and in fact don’t think those parameters I ever had control over anyway. Thanks for your help.

Try checking Dashboard>Appearance>Theme Options. Is the accent color set to the default (white, #ffffff)?
You also have the Custom Design upgrade, so it’s possible for you to change the color of almost anything with CSS.
The ‘grayed out’ text (and ‘blacked-out’ dates) can be edited with some custom CSS..sidebar-widget a {color: white;}
.post-date {color: white;}
You can change the ‘white’ to a color from this list or whatever hex code you would like.I don’t know why they would have changed if you haven’t changed any settings or edited the CSS, but this should get you back on track.

Thank you, Jeff, for your very thorough comments.
However, (1) I am using the default white #ffffff color code; that has never changed. (2) I have never requested a custom upgrade and don’t have it installed.
I am not inclined to pay 99 dollars (or whatever) to ‘fix’ a problem I didn’t cause and shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
The other part of the problem I am just noticing is that the main part of my blog site title ABOVE my header image is blacked out EXCEPT when I mouse over it, then it turns to red. How crazy is that :)
I am not into CSS or writing code, I am just hoping for the settings to return as they were a couple of days ago.
Thanks to anyone for any more help on this issue.

At the bottom of your site it says ‘Customized Chateau Theme’. If you click on that link it takes you to this page which indicates the Custom Design upgrade was used to edit the site.
I’ll tag this for staff attention. Does anyone else have access to your account that might have done some editing? -
Hi oopsjohn,
When I go to your site at http://oopsjohn.wordpress.com/ all of your titles appear in white:
http://cl.ly/image/1I042P3N0s3cI also see that you already have the premium bundle upgrade on your account, so if you do wish to customize your site further, you do not need to purchase anything additional, since Custom Design is part of that bundle.
If you are referring to a different blog, please let me know.

Well, that’s very interesting, Jeff, the upgrade already being operative on my site and me not realizing it… About a year ago I upgraded for more STORAGE SPACE, and the custom design part must have been included.
I was able to go in and fix the problem, thanks to your help.
Your assistance has been extremely helpful and I can’t thank you enough. Are you part of the design team or just a tech-savvy good Samaritan?
Whichever, many thanks…

Thank you, Jackie. I got the problem fixed thanks to info from Jeff above, but just didn’t get my ‘thank you’ posted quickly enough to save you some trouble. You and your support team have solved a problem for me once before and you are the greatest! Thanks for your quick concern.
