Why Have Photos from Some (but not All) of My Older Posts Disappeared???

    Please restore missing photos from the following blog posts:
    June 21, 2012; May 16, 2011; February 27, 2011; January 27, 2011; August 23, 2010; February 21, 2010; February 23, 2010; February 20, 2010; February 20, 2010; February 20, 2010; February 5, 2010; January 4, 2010. Guess you’re afraid of answering me; that’s why the only way to communicate about this is to post on your ‘public forums.’

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    No one is afraid of answering. We are simply stated – swamped and it’s a long weekend.

    Where are the missing images hosted?
    Are they one wordpress.COM servers and appearing in your media library?
    Are they images on third party sites that you hot linked to?

    Have you deleted any images from your Media Library?

    Images you upload into your media library and embed into posts and pages are on wordpress.COM servers. They remain visible unless or until you delete them from your media library. Doing that removes them from every place you embedded them in the blog and leaves behind broken links.

    Images you link to on other sites are not on wordpress.com servers, and can disappear if they are removed at the source from the servers they are on.

    Would like to respond. This seems to be the only way to “Reply” to your message. (Why does WordPress always make things so difficult?)

    First, I have NOT removed any of these photos. Even if I wanted to do, these are very old posts (from 2011, 2010, etc.) and I have never visited my “Media Library” nor would I know how to find it. NONE of these photos are linked to other sites; all are photos that I either took myself (e.g., of my wife’s first-ever maple bacon doughnut, my old black dial telephone, etc.). By posting photos on my WordPress blog, I assume that they are hosted on your servers.

    I repeat: I have never deleted any photos or blog posts on WordPress nor do I post the same photos on multiple blogs. I use WordPress for my serious posts, my Blogger blog for miscellaneous photo postings, and my Tumblr posts for mostly extended family matters.

    If this issue is not resolved, I will salvage what I can (if I can ever find my “Media Library”), delete my WordPress account, and rethink how I use the remaining two blogs, perhaps even adding a second Blogger blog to rehouse the majority of my former WordPress postings.
