Why have the smileys changed on wordpress sites?

  What has happened to the wordpress smileys?

  Hi there,

  If you would like to change this, please go to Settings > Writing in your Dashboard. Next to the “Formatting” section, just uncheck the box that says “Convert emoticons like :-) and :-P to graphics on display”. Once this is unchecked, you won’t see the smileys anymore.

  Grace, thanks for your reply, but I don’t want to turn them off, I just want to go back to the original wordpress smileys, as all my commenters think the new ones are rubbish, compared to the originals, and don’t want to use what they refer to as “Kindergarten Smileys” and I agree.
  Could you please reinstate the old ones, as I use them all the time in my posts and comments, and it’s really annoying when the smiley doesn’t fit with what you’re writing, when the old ones did!

  Unfortunately the old ones cannot be reinstated. You can always disable them if you do not want them.
