Why is a post appearing on a page?
-
I have a post appearing on a page and I cannot remove it. It is the ‘home’ post ‘Welcome to Kindle for Kids’ that persist in appearing on the ‘ Humour’ page of the site. I have edited that Page until I am blue in the face. I no longer see the post in editing mode and have entered new content for the Humour page but when I view the site, the Humour tab in the Navigation bar takes me straight to the Welcome to KfK blog post. Please help.

Hi there,
You haven’t selected a page to use for your front page, and you selected your Humour page as the default posts page.
You can change these options at Settings -> Reading in your dashboard.

Hello again. I’m afraid I now have a follow on problem to the above. I have set up a static ‘Home’ page, as per your suggestion. However, this left the same post underneath a tab entitled ‘Blog’ – a tab/page I haven’t put there and which does not appear in my list of pages and therefore cannot remove. I added a further post, thingking that this would be the first post that showed under the blog tab but the Welcome to KfK persists. I deleted it. It’s still there.

Actually, you haven’t selected a posts page yet at Settings -> Reading.
You’ll need to assign your posts to an existing page (it can be a blank page) to clear that up.

Thnks Mac. It would make sense for the posts to appear under the’Blog’ tab that appears top left in the Navigation bar but, as I said, I haven’t set this up (I’ve no idea where it comes from, I’ve assumed its a WP default) and it does not appear in my list of pages. Ergo, I cannnot assign my posts to it – Blog is not an option on Settings ..> Reading select list.
I can create another page entitled Blog, but when I try that I end up with two tabs entitled Blog – the one at the extreme left still showing the Welcome etc.I am sorry to be such a numpty.
TIA

Hi Lynda,
Your best bet would be to create a blank page titled Blog, and assign this as the posts page at Settings -> Reading.
You can customize your menu to appear just as you want by using the Custom Menus feature at Appearance -> Menus.
I hope this helps — feel free to drop us a line if we can be of any further assistance. :-)
