Why is an external feed for a podcast category ALSO limited to 50 items?
-
I am trying to put my podcast on itunes. Like many others, I have more than 50 episodes, so the wordpress.com feed won’t work for me. I figured I’d try using another feed creator, so I created a feed using the sae category via feedburner. However, that also only shows the 50 most recent posts. (http://feeds.feedburner.com/audiopinions)
I guess I wonder if this is going to happen no matter what rss feed service I try. Is the wordpress limit of 50 going to be in place no matter what even if I create the feed elsewhere?

Since the WordPress RSS feed is the source of the content, that limit of 50 items will always be in place even when you add that RSS feed to the new sources, like Feedburner.
Some folks submit the feed to iTunes for their most recent 50 episodes, then do a re-publish of their episodes previous to that to get them all on iTunes, even if out of order.
That cap of 50 items is there to make sure no one crashes the WordPress systems that handle creating the feed, and similarly that no one uses WordPress.com to crash iTunes (or other systems) by submitting too many items at one time.

Hi again,
Just wanted to let you know we had some more discussion regarding podcasts specifically and we’re going to test out higher limits for the syndication feeds. The number may change again if we start getting reports of issues, but you may want to experiment with that setting in your Reading Settings once more:
