Why is Askimet SPAM report no longer accurate on Dashboard?

The new change to Dashboard moved lots of things about. No apparent benefit, but no harm, either. But the Askimet report is not being updated accurately. For example, I went to Comments, found that I had 2 spam entries, deleted all, and they both went away. Then I looked at the report on the Dashboard, after update. Still says 2 spam entries.
Why not the accurate 0 entries, as it was prior to new update?

Hi there – Currently your Dashboard says there’s 1 comment in your spam queue, which is accurate. It might not update immediately. Maybe next time try clearing your browser cache.

I have seen the Akismet count off from time to time – since WordPress.COM is hosted on three massive server farms I have always chalked this up to caching issues between the three different server farms.
When I first moved here the page view count would go up and down a few counts from time to time and figured it was caching issues also – but have not noticed the page views bouncing in quite some time.
