Why is auto-reply to a posted comment generating a bad email address?

  My website requires first time comment posters to be registered users and to have their comment moderated. I have configured wordpress to auto-repsond to the user with an email. The email being generated contains a bad email address of (email visible only to moderators and staff) instead of the email address the user provided when they registered.

  Can you possibly direct me to where in the code the email is being generated and how I might correct the issue?

  Below is the email I receive indicating the email could not be delivered.

  Received: (qmail 24327 invoked by uid 1000); 29 Oct 2011 00:56:53 -0000
  Message-ID: <(email visible only to moderators and staff)>
  Date: 28 Oct 2011 17:56:53 -0700
  Delivered-To: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  I have checked the user’s attributes in my wordpress admin page and the user’s email address that was supplied is valid and I can email them directly outside of wordpress with no issue.

  I have installed the following plugins:
  PhotoSmash
  PieRegister
  AutomaticWordpressBackup
  JetPack
  Askimet

  A few more pieces of info that may help resolve the problem.

  1. PieRegister is working well. When users register they receive an email at the address they provided to validate they are a real person. So I know their email works. It is only when they post a comment that the bad email address utilized.

  2. My website is using the elegant themes “Aggregate” template.

  To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.

  WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress via their Codex and Support Forums.
