Why is changing the background on the Chateau theme now a premium function?

  I was experimenting a month or so ago with putting up a new header and changing the color of the background. But when I went back in to customize to go ahead and do the one I chose, it now says that changing the background color is now part of the premium plan. I had changed it on there before. Clare Horan says it’s not supposed to be a premium option. So I’m wondering what happened.

  You’re currently previewing the Custom Design features (part of the WordPress.com Premium plan) in your site’s customizer.

  To exit the custom design preview, you can open your site’s Customizer and then open any of the custom design sections (“Colors & Backgrounds,” “Fonts,” or “CSS”). At the top of each section, you’ll see this text:

  You can click “exit the preview” to go back to the theme’s free customization features, including changing your background color.

  Thank you so much. That worked fine. Is this theme going to change to only be able to use this function as a premium choice?

  Hi there,

  There aren’t any plans right now to remove that free option from themes. :)
