Why is full-text feed not compliant with RSS 2.0 spec?
-
First of all: WordPress.com – great platfrom! Thanks!
I want to syndicate my blog as a full-text feed. WordPress.com gives me an RSS 2.0 feed, but there is only partial text in the “description” sub-element of “item”.
The feed does contain the full text inside a tag labelled “content:encoded”. Apparently many aggregators read this tag and display wordpress feeds as full feeds.
However, “content:encoded” is not mentioned in the RSS 2.0 spec (http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss). As a result, some aggregators (e.g. Freenews mobile) do not read that tag, even though they are fully compliant with the spec.
What’s the story?
Thanks,

To be honest I would put this in as feedback (through your dashboard), a reply will probably be quicker and more forthcoming through that route.
Certainly it’s not something that I can answer!

For the full/ partial text issue, make sure that you have the following set:
Dashboard -> Options -> Reading -> Syndication Feeds -> Full Text is checked.
Afraid I can’t help you on the other bit as my RSS knowledge is rather limited. I’ve not had any issues though reported to me.
Good luck,

-warning: i don’t really know xml and xslt, just fooling around-
been looking into xsl-transforming the rss for my personal HP; everything is well when using the “description”-field.
when using “content:encoded” i get an xslt-error. when manually changing “content:encoding” into merely “content” (more or less) everything is well.
i indeed found multiple confirmations on the web (e.g. http://www.stylusstudio.com/xsllist/200210/post70750.html) of the fact that the use of a colon signifies that the prefix should be a declared and referenced namespace in the xml (rss). as this is not the case, xslt-parsing fails..
i’ll put this in as feedback as well.
