Why is import not working with my exported typepad file?
-
Typepad exports as a .txt file, and claims this is compatible with wordpress.com import. Import on WordPress states that it can import from Typepad blogs – however, when I click the import function, and identify the txt file to import, it seems that nothing happens and there are no further instructions. How do I get from this import stage to my Typepad posts appearing as WordPress.com posts?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

While you are waiting for Staff to respond here’s a link to Typepad’s help document:

Yeah – was using that, but the import process appears to stall i.e. no success message appears, and the blog shows no moved posts

This may be a execution time or memory limit issue with your host. You should follow-up with your hosting company to learn what these numbers are set at now. I would recommend temporarily changing your PHP execution time to 900 and set your memory allowance up to 256M at the least.

Not sure what you mean by host. Do you mean Typepad? Are you suggesting there’s a problem with the txt file?

How large is your export file? Sometimes large files may not transfer without a timeout issue.
I see you have tried to import it as WordPress and as Moveable Type. Please be sure just to use the MT format.
Please try it again and if you still cannot complete the import, you can send me the import file via a file sharing service such as Dropbox, and I can try to process the import for you.

Thanks jackiedana. File is 1.3MB. The import option I selected was “Moveable Type and Typepad.” After clicking import, all I got was a blank box. Will try again.

No luck again. I get as far as
“Below, you can see the names of the authors of the MovableType posts in italics. For each of these names, select one of the blog’s users as the author.”
There is only one option in the box. When I click “submit” I’m left with an empty white space with just a help button top right, and a line of text at the bottom:
“Thank you for creating with WordPress • Support • Forums • Learn WordPress — Tutorials and Walkthroughs” -
