Why is infinite scroll not working on my WordPress Reader?
-
Hi there! I’ve had this problem for a few weeks now, and I don’t know how to fix it. When I check my WordPress Reader (Blogs I Follow), the infinite scroll doesn’t work when I reach the bottom of the page. When I check individual blogs I follow, I can see a number of recent posts that I never get to read because my Reader won’t load properly. I’ve checked the forums and saw a few users post the same issue, but no responses were given even after a month or so.
Oddly enough, infinite scroll works for *topics* I follow, not blogs.

Yeah, I clear my browser cache a lot, but no dice. I tried different browsers, too, and no luck there. I guess I’ll have to back up my WP reader with Feedly.

I’ve just tested the reader in your account and everything is working properly. Could you please try it from a different computer? or a different internet connection?
Thank you.

I’ve tried that, and I did notice those times when infinite scroll works tend to be pretty random. So computer, browser window, and connection don’t seem to be the problem.
But I also need to mention this as I’m not sure if it has any bearing on the issue:
Infinite scrolling worked perfectly up until the time I imported my Google Reader subscriptions to WP and then, after discovering Feedly, deleted those subscriptions in order to keep them from getting mixed up with my regular WP subscriptions (because WP doesn’t have folders I can use to organize sites / blogs I read). After I got rid of my Google subscriptions, infinite scrolling went wonky on me.

Are you running any browser extensions or add-ons? if so, could you please try to disable them?
Otherwise try these steps to open Chrome’s JavaScript Console to see if there are any error messages or warnings:
1: Use the keyboard shortcut Command – Option – J (Mac) or Control -Shift -J (Windows/Linux).
2: Select View > Developer > JavaScript Console.
3: If there are errors/warnings the console will displays a red icon along with the message text, which is colored red. Please copy paste the content of that and post it in this thread. -
Oops. Sorry for not responding sooner. I got caught in RL’s gaping maw.
Anyway, I found an error/warning:
Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://wordpress.com/#!/read/following/ from frame with URL http://www.youtube.com/embed/Y05EGVYO-FQ?version=3&rel=1&fs=1&showsearch=0&showinfo=1&iv_load_policy=1&wmode=transparent. Domains, protocols and ports must match.
Is that what you’re looking for?

Thanks for testing. That error doesn’t really look bad. Do you encounter the same issue when you try it on a different computer?

It’s weird, but the other computer can’t seem to get with the program. I tried what you said, and nothing came up, i.e., no window at the bottom of the screen, etc (excuse my lack of tech terminology). However…
Infinite scroll seems to be working perfectly again. It’s been two days so far, and I’m crossing my fingers. :D I guess it’s some kind of weird bug, and hopefully the reader doesn’t get affected again.
Maybe we’ll see what happens from here? Thanks so much for all your help, though! I really appreciate it. Hopefully other users with the same issues now have functional infinite scrolling, too.
