Why is it impossible to register domain name?
-
Five attempts over two days to register a domain name for my blog. Each attempt has resulted in this message: “An error occured processing your payment, please try again later”
I’m trying to give you guys money.
Why won’t you let me do that? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

First I thought I might have problems with my ISP (e.g. slow or intermittent connectivity).
Not now.
Now it seems there is another reason I cannot register a domain name for my blog.
Unfortunately, no one seems to know what it might be.
I’ve looked through the FAQs which pop up in response to questions about this issue and cannot see a pertinent, specific answer.
Could I possibly be the only WordPress user who has ever run into this problem?
The credit card I’m attempting to use is alive and well and has worked for other online charges as recently as 12 hours ago.
Does the error message, “An error occured processing your payment, please try again later”, mean anything specific to anyone? -
I am sorry this is happening to you.
You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog who is Admin of the blog to purchase upgrades for the blog. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades
You must pay for the upgrade in full at the time of purchase.
Below are the only accepted means of payment.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/WordPress.com uses PayPal as the payment processor, and as such, can only accept payment from countries they support: https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/
If for whatever reason, they have chosen to block payment from your country, you will not be able to purchase an upgrade here unless you have a source of payment outside of your country. Note: You can buy a prepaid credit card from an approved country.
In addition to major credit cards Mastercard, VISA, American Express, Discover, and PayPal https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/ WordPress.com can accept echecks and some debit cards.
The debit card must have a VISA or Mastercard symbol on it, and should work just like a credit card when selecting the VISA or Mastercard option on the payment form, even though it’s a debit card.
More about echecks here:

I am using an American Express card in my attempt to pay in full for my domain name at WordPress.
The card is current and active.
I have only the one blog (artmantrue.wordpress.com). No one else has access to it. I have never changed my username. I am the administrator.
When I go to dashboard>store>my upgrades I find that I have “no upgrades yet”.
If there is an inconsistency in my data that would block my ability to pay for a domain name, I have no idea how to identify it or change it.
Any specific suggestions? -
Thanks for your response. Please wit patiently for Staff to work their way forward to this thread and help you.

On my seventh attempt I successfully registered a domain name for my WordPress blog just minutes ago.
I have no idea why it worked this time after failing six previous times over two days.
Anyway.
No need for any further head scratching on this one. -
I’m so glad you got this sorted out! I’m not sure what happened. I don’t see any specific errors logged on our end, and I haven’t heard any other reports of this.
Do let me know if there’s something else I can help with though.
