Why is it making me pay to launch with wordpress.com in the domain name?

I am trying to launch a new blog I created with my free account -I have another blog under this account that I have never had to pay for. Now when I try to make this second blog visible, it’s making me sign up for a payment plan. This is supposed to be free. What’s going on? I used a domain name with wordpress.com like I was supposed to. I’m not trying to have a specialty domain name.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hey!

Navigate to your dashboard for the website you would like to launch. Click launch your site to the world, follow the steps, and then enter the domain you want to use. At this point make sure to scroll down to the very bottom of the page and hit Skip Purchase. WordPress will then offer you plans, but you can click start with a free site in the center middle of the page. This should allow you to make your site visible to the public, regardless if you have a .wordpress domain or not.

Try these steps and let me know if it helps!

Thank you! They really bury the free option you signed up for under a mound of paid options. I work in social media and I STILL missed the option for a straight hour. A little shady, but at least it IS still free and I don’t have to start over. This solved my problem – thank you again!

No problem! I totally know the feeling (especially when trying to cancel free trials of things). Feel free to mark the thread as solved.
